We were delighted to release Simple Sessions' latest cover 'Sometimes' by H.E.R. on Friday December 11th. The track features London-based session vocalist Dafne Otte alongside some of the usual guys, including Alex Hogg (guitar), Rich Hammond (bass), Steve Hanley (drums) and a guest appearance from Martin Chung (guitar), who also features with the amazing guitar solo. The track was produced, mixed and mastered by bandleader Jon Melville, who played piano and programmed the strings and synths on there. We're delighted that this morning we released a Simple Sessions cover of Grover Washington Jr and Bill Withers soul classic "Just the Two of Us" on Barehand Digital! The cover was recorded by all the individuals in the band (during covid lockdown number 1!) and was mixed and mastered by Jon Melville, who also arranged the track and played sax/sung BVs. This cover features Anna Hattam on vocals, accompanied by Alex Hogg (guitar), Jon Chamberlain (keys), Richard Hammond (bass), Steve Hanley (drums), Ali Mac (percussion), Jon Melville (sax/BVs) and Jenny Smith (BVs). Simple Sessions have their 8th cover release coming out, which we will be putting out for them on digital platforms a week this Friday on October 16th! The track will be a cover of Grover Washington Jr. and Bill Withers' classic "Just the Two of Us" and will feature Anna Hattam on vocals, backed by a really top Simple Sessions band which was put together during lockdown by Jon Melville - all the guys recorded themselves at home due to the Covid situation, and the track was mixed and mastered by sax player Jon. Barehand have now uploaded sheet music for 'Upon Reflection' by Jon Melville to the shop - if you are interested in purchasing the score (you can also listen to the piece in full) then you can do so here. This piece was notated by Jon himself and is roughly around Grade 6 standard.

Barehand Digital will be releasing Simple Sessions' latest song on Friday August 28th, 2020, this time a cover of Jaime Woods' beautiful song 'Home' from her 2015 album 'Troy'. This track will be the first live Simple Sessions release (recorded during the gig at Open Source Arts in Leeds on Thursday January 23rd) and features Anna Hattam (vocals), Alex Hogg (guitar), Jon Melville (keys), Richard Hammond (bass) and Steve Hanley (drums). The song capped off a lovely gig performed to a highly appreciative audience, who particularly enjoyed listening to this song to finish the gig!

Simple Sessions' most recent release was a cover of Sinead Harnett's wonderful acoustic version of her song "Lessons" from her 2019 album "Lessons in Love". This version features vocals from Anna Hattam backed by Alex Hogg on acoustic guitar. The track was released on July 10th 2020 on Barehand Digital and was produced and mixed by Simple Sessions leader Jon Melville.
