Tadow by FKJ & Masego
Following on from last weeks blog post about saxophone pieces which were easy and popular for beginners to learn, this week we’re talking about another very popular saxophone piece - “Tadow” by FKJ & Masego - however, we’d probably suggest that this piece is at more of an intermediate level.
Tadow was the result of a studio session at Red Bull Studios in Paris back in 2017, between French sax player/producer FKJ (from Paris) and Jamaican-American sax/guitar/keys/drums player and vocalist Masego and amazingly was a completely improvised tune - an 8 minute improvised jam (according to producer FKJ they just kept playing music together all day without planning anything). The original video currently sits at 423 million views (and counting) on YouTube!
If you are at an intermediate to more advanced stage of your saxophone progress and you are interested in learning Tadow, we have a sheet music transcription of it available, both for alto and tenor saxophones (which would of course also work on baritone sax and soprano sax respectively) - you can find the Tadow sheet music at one of our Barehand Sheet Music shops on either Sheet Music Direct or Sheet Music Plus. There are also a couple of videos on YouTube that we’ve produced: firstly a cover performance of Tadow on both alto and tenor saxophones; also a Tadow tutorial.
Enjoy!
